“The Crew” Helps Host April “Tracking” Seminar in Raven (Part One)

What Better Way to Spend A Weekend – Working With Your Dogs Instincts, Learning The Sport Of Tracking, Meeting New People, And Having Some Fun Outdoors Come Rain, Snow or Shine!

It is another busy weekend for “The Crew”. On Saturday, Donna Brinkworth (Tracking Instructor and CKC Tracking Judge) ran a seminar for the beginners who came out to learn about the sport of Tacking. My Ash who has been taking lessons was thrilled to be a demo dog for the event.

When pursuing the art of "working" with our dogs, be it tracking or herding, one never knows what weather will be bestowed upon us. So, we always have to be prepared for all weather conditions. We had to work with cold temps, snow patches and veg, and wind. For those that love the outdoors and want to work with the natural instincts of your dog, then this post is for you! We all learn from watching different breeds and their owner/handler when they are given a chance to explore and channel their natural instincts in a venue that helps us become more bonded with our canine pal.

We had a great variety of breeds out today - two Miniature Schnauzers, a Pomeranian, a Basset Hound, an Australian Shepherd, and of course a few Canaans:-) From rare breeds to toys, to terriers, hounds and herding dogs - what a great mix of breeds and wonderful owners who all share one thing in common - We all LOVE exploring the working nature of our canine buddies!

Below are some favourite pics from today's seminar of the array of breeds with their owners - What an awesome day with our fabulous Instructor Donna and all the handler teams! All of the dogs did great and wanted to keep learning and working more with their handlers! For PART TWO of the weekend to see Ash in her Mock Trial CLICK HERE

And Last but Not least - We gave my Rook to Shelly who came with Colleen and needed a beginner dog to work - so we gave her a young fireball Canaan male:-) Shelly did great with him! I always love to be able to hand off one of my desert crew and say" here you go!"

    1. Thanks David. It was a fantastic weekend all around for the dogs and owners. As you know, it is always fun to get together with a great group of people who love to work with their dogs. The crew were great hosts too and Ash loved being a demo dog for the beginners and really enjoyed the experience of the mock trial. She probably would of tracked all day! Sara would of been proud of Ash:-)
