St. Patrick's Day! I have always thought of this litter as a "lucky litter" and how could we have timed it any better than welcoming the new crew at the end of the Rainbow!
First time poppa Sufat Sheleg Northern MACCprentice "Rook" and second time Mamma D&J Ha'Aretz Northern Alchemy "Asherah" are the proud parents of five (5). Three females (two black with white trim, and one with white and black markings) and two males (one black with white trim and one white with black markings).
Living up to her moniker of "easy, breezy cover girl", Ash's labour was peaceful and precise . First born - a male (black with white trim) at 4:30 a.m.: second, a female (black with white trim) at 5:30 a.m.: third, a male (white with black markings) at 7:12 a.m.: fourth, a female (black with white trim) at 9:13 a.m.: and lucky Number 5, a female (white and black markings) at 10:13 a.m.
Historically, I have chosen temporary names until they leave for their lucky new reserved homes. So, in order of birth, my dear friend Catherine and I have named this litter in order of their arrival in the Universe:
Patrick "Paddy" (in honour of this day, and my father);
Olive (the other Canaan);
Frankie (in honour of Catherine's wannabee canaan, a beloved rescue who is now an offshoot of the crew);
Penny (in honour of the lucky penny now out of circulation in Canada and will become as rare as this breed)
Boudicca (Bou) an Irish warrior princess
Without further ado, some rambling pics of the newborns - watch for weekly updates!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Ash with the crew pre-Bou:-)The crew Apres-Bou:-)
DAY ONE (Hour's Old) PORTRAITS
"PADDY"
"OLIVE"
"PENNY"
"Bou"
And Frankie Jr would not leave the "milk bar" for a head shot so stay tuned for that:-)
Was that a distant murmur of a protege? Aha, my line continues.
The dashing and handsome Sire "Rook" dreaming of "daddyhood"
The beautiful easy, breezy cover girl Dam "Ash"
And the Nanny of the Crew "Miss Cybelle" AKA "Bibs" waits on the sidelines to impart her "Diva" wisdom
And life on the ranch continues to bless us with the beauty of this season, which will last until probably August :-) The Alberta Canaan Crew and its newest members leave you with a few March 2013 still lifes on the ranch - our Morning Mica.
And last but not least our wannabee Canaan Crew member "Auntie Frankie" who shows great potential with our bovine brigade
Michelle!! Andrea and I are so St. Patrick's Day Happy for you and the crew!! We can't wait to come out and see the new little bundles of Canaan joy!!!
